Why AEO matters
Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) is what SEO is becoming. AI search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google's AI Overviews don't just rank pages — they extract direct answers and cite sources. Pages that score well on AEO get cited; pages that don't get ignored. The AEO Scorecard tells you exactly which of your pages are AI-citable and which need work — across 9 measurable dimensions.
Recruitment is a high-AEO-value vertical: candidates and hiring managers ask AI engines for sector advice constantly. Getting cited puts your name in front of buyers at the moment of intent.
The 9-dimension scoring matrix
Every page gets scored 1-5 on: 1. **Sentence Complexity** — clarity for AI extraction (declarative sentences under 25 words score highest). 2. **Information Density** — substance per paragraph (zero filler). 3. **Content Structure** — H1 > H2 > H3 hierarchy and logical flow. 4. **Entity Context** — named tools, companies, people, and relationships. 5. **Evidence Quality** — specific stats with named sources. 6. **Freshness** — current-year references and dated data. 7. **Content Age** — publication recency (last 30 days = 5). 8. **Machine Readability** — FAQs, definition blocks, comparison tables. 9. **Authority** — external citation signals.
Reading the AEO Score gauge
Open Tenant Admin → SEO & AEO Intelligence → AEO Scorecard tab (Fusion only). The top of the page shows your AEO Score gauge with the weakest dimension surfaced beneath. Click into any failing factor to see the per-page breakdown — including which exact pages dragged the score down and what to fix on each.
AEO Scorecard is a Fusion-tier feature. On Glow or Flare you'll see the tab with a Fusion badge — clicking it shows an upgrade card with a description of what you'll unlock.
Per-page recommendations
For each failing factor, the scorecard shows actionable recommendations like 'Add an FAQ section with 5+ Q&As under 40 words each' or 'Reduce sentence count above 25 words by 60%'. Click 'Open Builder' next to any recommendation to jump straight to the page editor with the relevant section pre-selected.
AI Content Score sub-tab
Adjacent to the AEO Scorecard tab is the **AI Content Score** sub-tab. Paste a blog draft or any URL and Claude scores it against the same 9-dimension matrix in real time — perfect for testing posts before you publish. Each scoring run gives you a per-dimension breakdown and rewrite suggestions in plain English.

Tracking improvement
AEO scores update automatically as you edit your site. The Sparkline chart on the AEO Score gauge shows your trend over time. Aim to move every page from yellow (3) to green (4-5) within a sprint — typical pages take 2-4 focused edits to cross the threshold.
